WHAT: New Dance Partners Film Premiere

WHEN: New film premiere will be available for viewing Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6 at 12a. This season’s annual dance festival, whose mission is creating new work, went forward virtually, with all four pieces captured on film. The film premiere will be available for viewing for 48 hours, Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6. Thanks to our donors, the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, Richard J. Darlene Love’s Love for the Holidays!

Grammy Award Winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Darlene Love, has long been recognized as “one of the greatest singers of all-time” by Rolling Stone Magazine. It’s no wonder The New York Times raves: “Darlene Love’s thunderbolt voice is as embedded in the history of rock and roll as Eric Clapton’s guitar or Bob Dylan’s lyrics.” Through the years, Darlene has continued to captivate audiences worldwide with her warm, gracious stage presence and sensational performances. Her voice launched dozens of hits including “He’s a Rebel,” “(Today I Met) The Boy I’m Gonna Marry,” “Marshmallow World” and her signature song, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).” This holiday season, the music icon will bring these classics and more for a one-night-only holiday performance. It’s a rockin’ Christmas celebration you won’t want to miss!

Chaeyoung Park Piano Recital

An alumna of KU School of Music who studied under Jack Winerock at the tender age of 11 and now studying at Julliard, Park has taken the world by storm, receiving top honors at many national and international piano competitions. In 2016, she helped the Carlsen Center choose its new Steinway piano straight from the floor of the factory in New York City!

A rare piano recital will be available for viewing Friday, Dec. 11. The program will include

Bach: Four Duets (BWV 802-805), Beethoven: Sonata No. 29 in B-flat Major, Op. 106, “Hammerklavier” – first and second movements, Brahms: Sonata No. 3 in F minor, Op. 5 and a special holiday gift of Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Suite- Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and Trepak (Russian Dance).

 

Manual Cinema’s Christmas Carol

In this world premiere online event created for audiences of all ages, interdisciplinary performance collective Manual Cinema takes on Charles Dickens’s holiday classic with a visually inventive adaptation made to broadcast directly to your home. Performed live in Chicago and available for live streaming, Manual Cinema’s Christmas Carol will be told with hundreds of paper puppets, miniatures, silhouettes, and a live original score in an imaginative re-invention of a cherished holiday tradition..
