Announces 2018 SEASON

Kansas City, MO – The MTH Theater at Crown Center is pleased to announce the titles for its 2018 Season.

 

The season will begin with BROADWAY’S GOLDEN AGE (March 1-18, 2018) , an original revue written and hosted by MTH Founder George Harter. The revue will focus on songs and stories from the Golden Age of Musicals – The 1950’s , with Harter offering his customary clever and charming anecdotes along the way.

 

The season continues with THE PRODUCERS (June 7-24, 2018).  This Mel Brooks musical comedy won a staggering 12 Tony Awards in 2001 including “Best Musical”, “Best Book”, and “Best Original Score”, and set a single day box office record of 3.5 million dollars.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber classic , CATS will be the third production of 2018 (August 9-26, 2018). The original production broke longevity records both on Broadway and in London, where the production ran for 18 years and 21 years respectively. The Broadway production picked up 7 Tony Awards including “Best Musical”, “Best Book”, and “Best Original Score”.

Lerner and Loewe’s cherished classic, MY FAIR LADY (September 13- 30, 2018) will be MTH’s 4th production. This one also set a longevity record on Broadway when it opened in 1957, winning 7 Tony Awards including “Best Musical”.

 

MTH is excited to expand its Main Stage season by adding a fifth musical that has yet to be announced; however, the yet-to-be-announced title will be presented November 1-18, 2018.

And finally, the season will conclude with MTH’s traditional and wildly popular A SPECTACULAR CHRISTMAS SHOW (December 6-23, 2018).  The show features holiday music not only taken from musical theater, but also features innovative arrangements of holiday classics.

 

Additionally, MTH is proud to announce their critically acclaimed Musical Monday and Tuesday Series will celebrate its 10th anniversary season in 2018, and can be added to season subscriptions. these performances feature the best of musical theater and highlight eras, themes, and composers, as well as the most popular songs and shows on Broadway today.

 

Executive Director, Chad Gerlt says “2018 marks a season where we will bring innovative and exciting new changes to MTH and we believe our patrons are going to absolutely be blown away. ”

 

MTH recently signed a 5-year extension with Crown Center and 2018 marks their 16th Season. Auditions will be announced later this year.
